MINDS plans to host two Mental Health and Addiction Imaginariums. These are groundbreaking initiatives that aims to (re)imagine and (re)define Canadian mental health and addiction system innovation. This visionary project, in collaboration with The Global MINDS Collective, sets out to establish strategic priorities and key initiatives that will shape the future landscape of mental health and addiction care in Canada.
The Imaginarium is a platform for diverse system stakeholders to come together and engage in strategic visioning, dialogue, networking, partnership development, and resource sharing. It consists of two key events: the Canadian Mental Health and Addiction System Innovation Imaginarium and the London-Middlesex Mental Health and Addiction System Innovation Imaginarium.
The Canadian Mental Health and Addiction System Innovation Imaginarium will be a virtual gathering welcoming participants from across Canada. This event will facilitate deep listening, connection, and collaboration among a wide variety of mental health and addiction care system stakeholders. Participants will address crucial objectives such as understanding the Canadian mental health innovation landscape, reflecting on the role of technology and artificial intelligence, recognizing strengths and limitations, and leveraging the insights of people with lived experience (PWLE) in driving innovation.
Expected outcomes from the Canadian Imaginarium include a published commentary summarizing results and a way forward, as well as the establishment of the Canadian Task Force on Mental Health and Addiction System Innovation. This Task Force, comprising diverse stakeholders including PWLE representatives, will develop a strategic plan, key initiatives, and areas of focus for system change in Canada.
The London-Middlesex Mental Health and Addiction System Innovation Imaginarium, following the same mindful approach, will localize learnings from the Canadian Imaginarium. It will focus on catalyzing change in the local context and will result in a published commentary outlining local directions within the national context, a dedicated network for local transformation, and an updated Systems Map for mental health and addiction care processes.
Through these initiatives, the Imaginarium seeks to achieve several critical outcomes:
- Establishment of a strategic plan and key initiatives for mental health and addiction system change in Canada.
- Creation of white papers, policy briefs, and documentation for national innovation efforts.
- Development of initiatives at national, provincial, and local levels to advance mental health and addiction care.
- By spearheading these efforts, MINDS, in collaboration with partners, aims to solidify its leadership role in mental health and addiction system innovation, driving impactful change across Canada. Join us in this transformative journey to shape the future of mental health and addiction care for generations to come.
