Welcome to Fixing the Cracks. This is a toolkit designed to help fix damaged relationships between youth/emerging adults (ages 16-35) and the adults who support, care for, and love them. Designed in collaboration with young people and adult allies over the course of two years, this toolkit is meant to prompt education, conversation, and deeper relationships through education and journalling activities.
These guidelines focus on different types of relationships in your life. We know that using this toolkit to mend a relationship with a parent will look different than using it to mend a relationship with a teacher, but the general guidelines remain the same. While we have tried to make this content accessible to all, the deeper and more involved your relationship is, the more support you might need. For parents, this might not cover the entirety of your relationship with your child. Use this toolkit as a first step and build atop it to create a network of support. You’ll find a list of resources at the end of this book if you’re not sure where to go next.
